Homeplace Plantation House : ウィキペディア英語版 | Homeplace Plantation House
Homeplace Plantation House, also known as Keller Homestead, is a National Historic Landmark in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana. Erected 1787-1791, this is an excellent example of a large French Colonial, two-story, raised cottage. The first-story walls are brick, while the second-story walls are made of cypress timbers infilled with a mixture of clay and Spanish moss. Above, a steeply-pitched hip roof with dormers extends on all four sides to cover two-story galleries. The house is not open to the public. The unoccupied house continues to deteriorate. One elderly owner (93 years old) reported he was not able to do critical maintenance and repairs. Hurricane Katrina (in 2005) broke windows, damaged the roof of the house, and damaged the pigeonnier. Homeplace Plantation house was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1970.〔〔 and 〕 It is located on Louisiana Highway 18, a half-mile south of the Hahnville, Louisiana, post office. ==See also==
